The Society of Light and Lighting are pleased to be supporting LiGHT 25

Held at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, LiGHT 25 is the UK’s only trade show dedicated to high-end lighting specification. Held annually, over two days in November it attracts designers and specifiers from all areas of the industry looking to be inspired, educated, and grow their professional network.

Having attracted over 5,500 visitors in 2024 - architects, interior designers, lighting designers, engineers, and specifiers head to LiGHT in their thousands to see the very latest product innovations and launches from 100s of exhibiting architectural and decorative lighting brands.

NEW to LiGHT 25 is the Technical Zone – the perfect space for brands specialising in Urban lighting, Commercial lighting, Control systems, Components/OEM, Lamps & gear and Emergency lighting.

Join the SLL at 11:00am on Thursday 20 November for Light Inside Out for 6 x 15-minute presentations focused on the luminaire and its components to enable it to deliver light as desired.

1. The LED. Xavier Denis, Nichia. This presentation will include the makeup of the LED chip, thermal control and the binning/quality management process

2.Optics. Linus Fuchs, Ledil. A presentation discussing the role of the components in a light source including lens/reflector design, control, shape and focus the light emitted by the LED to improve efficiency and deliver the desired lit effect.

3. Luminaire Housing. Karen Cawley & Mo Islam, XAL. The audience will gain information on the use of luminaire materials, metal v plastic, thermal management and the benefits of 3D Printing

4. Driver. Patrick van der Meulen, Eldoled. Control of the power going into a LED luminaire is crucial to its performance and longevity. The audience will gain an understanding of control/LED compatibility and what is required to dim or change the colour of the LED

5. Product Testing. Jean-Luc Lambert, Urbis Schréder. The audience will be informed of the luminaire testing process including protection against ingress, electromagnetic compatibility, electrical safety and mechanical impact

6. Circularity & Embodied Carbon. Lisa Sutherland. Stoane Lighting. An opportunity to reinforce the benefits of keeping a luminaire in circulation and minimising its embodied carbon emissions. The audience will be shown how the lighting industry can further minimise its impact on the earths natural resources and its carbon emissions

This will be followed by lunch in the Associations Lounge.

Run by [d]arc media – the leading media company in lighting design - the show also features the highly regarded [d]arc thoughts talks programme. Moderated by editors from the leading lighting design magazines arc and darc, as well as guest moderators, the talks delve deeper into the latest topics and trends affecting lighting and design.

LiGHT also provides endless opportunities for visitors to make new connections. Whether that’s through the late-night drinks party, networking brunch, or while working in the dedicated co-working space. There is also the ability to re-energise in the Associations Lounge, which is set to feature for the second year running a separate dedicated splinter talks programme.

The 2025 edition of the show will take place on the 19th and 20th of November and is completely free to attend.
