This webinar explores the new SLL Lighting Factfile LF19: Thermoplastic lighting diffusers and fire safety in buildings

Sophie Parry CEng MIET FSLL is Head of Trilux UK Akademie and author of SLL Factfile 19 Lighting for Neurodiversity and will be delivering a technical presentation on the subject.

Neurodiversity is a high-level term used to describe people who are not considered to be ‘neuro-typical’. It is thought that at least 15% of people live with some form of neurodiversity. These are recognised conditions such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, synaesthesia (abnormal pupillary response), Tourette’s syndrome and variable attention stimulus trait (VAST).

It is also generally established that neurodivergent people often have atypical responses to sensory factors. Lighting Factfile 19 considers one of these — light and the application to bring a space alive, provide variability and creativity whilst exploring its potential effects, including hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity, also known as photophobia.
