This event is to be a night-time walk from the city of London starting at London bridge tube station and finishing at the Shipwrights arms Tooley St. The walk will take in several night-time buildings illuminated art and spaces and will initiate discussions about the approach to the lighting installation, the ethics of Public Realm Lighting, Heritage buildings, Light Art installations and Obtrusive Light.

The group is limited to 30 people and will be split into five groups of six people each with their own speaker at the end of each defined Building / Area the groups will be asked to comment on the installed lighting schemes and to consider the design constraints may have affected the lighting design and to consider as a team what they might have done differently.

You will need notebook and pen, good walking shoes, waterproof clothing (We will continue if it is raining, think of the reflections!).  If you have a camera bring it or a smart phone.  We will look at architectural night-time photography.

The route is approximately 1.5 miles and will take in the light installations at :-

  • The Shard
  • St Olafs House
  • Hays Galleria
  • HMS Belfast
  • Tower of London
  • Tower bridge
  • Shad Thames,
  • Ex-City hall,
  • More London
  • London Bridge Station Exterior

The meeting point is London Bridge Underground Tooley street entrance/exit opposite St Olafs House at 18.30. The Walk will finish at the Shipwrights Arms on Tooley St next to London Bridge station at approximately 20.30.
