In collaboration with the City of Doncaster council, this project focuses on measuring indoor air quality in 21 council properties as they undergo whole-house retrofits to identify changes in key pollutants. Retrofitting will include : external wall insulation, loft insulation, upgraded extractor fans (bathroom / kitchen), installation of an air source heat pump, installation of solar PV panels, new windows and doors. The air quality sensors were installed in March 2025, a year before the start of the retrofitting works, to measure carbon dioxide, temperature, relative humidity, particulate matter and formaldehyde in four rooms continuously. This work presents the baseline measurements gathered pre-retrofit against which the post-retrofit results will be compared. This data will be essential in helping us better understand the health risks and benefits of retrofitting properties, as well as supporting the City of Doncaster Council and other local authorities as they implement their retrofitting policies.
Feel free to join the CIBSE Natural Ventilation Group's meeting before the technical talk at 11am using the same Teams link.
