CWCT Update

The latest CWCT update including sustainability and fire guidance.

Sustainability

As always, we are busy working to provide sustainability guidance for the façade industry.  This includes work on updating the embodied carbon methodology, and the sustainability Workstreams.  These are progressing well, and we hope to start the external review process soon on a number of these.

In addition to our guidance, we are also considering developing other tools in this area.  If you have suggestions for this, please let us know.

Our embodied carbon calculator, in collaboration with WSP will be launched at the CWCT AGM.

Fire guidance

We will soon be publishing the third in our new series of Technical Notes on fire, TN116 Fire performance of facades – application to built-up walls.  This has been extensively reviewed, including by the SFE Technical Committee.

As with all recent TN’s we will be arranging a webinar to explain the new guidance – look out for this in the autumn.

Work is continuing on the final Technical Note on curtain wall performance.  As previously discussed, this will cover fire stopping amongst other topics.  We have received a number of questions on this topic recently, so it is worth noting the article we published in the CIBSE Journal highlighting the approach we will be taking.

Courses

Following feedback, we have extended the availability of all our short courses.  These will now be available until the end of the year.  All courses are now CPD Certified.  Please see the website for further details and to book.

CWCT AGM

The CWCT AGM will be held on Thursday 25th September 2025, covering key topics of the Building Safety Act, and façade access. The event has booked very well – please check the website for last-minute availability.  If you cannot attend, look out for a review of the event on the CWCT website soon.
