SFE ANZ

In August, SFE Victoria Hub hosted their event, 'Unlock Your Future in Facade Engineering: Connect, Create & Grow!'. The event was an opportunity for recent graduates and final year students to explore facade engineering—from core technical principles to innovative world-class architecture. Facade specialists play a vital role in designing and delivering building envelopes, requiring expertise in sustainability, combustibility, and acoustics.

The evening was more than just a career talk; it was an opportunity to build meaningful connections, gain practical knowledge, and chance to learn students engineering and technical skills can be applied to create stunning and functional building envelopes.

SFE Scotland

The SFE Scotland Hub held their second event of the year at Arup in Edinburgh which discussed Embodied Carbon in Façades. The presentation was a collaborative effort between Arup and Wintech.

Erin Cassidy, Façade Engineer, Arup and Pablo Ochoa, Senior Façade Engineer, Wintech introduced the topic of Façade Embodied Carbon, discussing the impact of embodied carbon and whole life cycle assessments on the future of façade design.

Both companies presented examples and case studies of embodied carbon assessments produced through the use of their in-house tools.

SFE London

Held at Schueco UK's London show room, the SFE hosted, 'What is the cost of your façade, and can you afford it? A panel discussion'. Moderated by SFE Past Chair Chris Aspinall, the discussion focused on the commercial aspects of facade design and actual delivery as seen from the varying perspectives of the principal players who are delivering the client's dream.

The discussion sought to represent key players from across the building envelope supply chain and the speakers included:

Client, TBC
Architect, Roland Reinardy, Partner – Hawkins\Brown
Main Contractor: Claire Tribe – McLaren Construction Group
Façade Consultant: Claudia Farabegoli – BG&E
PQS, Daniel Gruesser, Façade Specialist – Turner & Townsend alinea

In August, friends of the SFE gathered at London South Bank University to celebrate the projects and innovations shortlisted for the 2025 Society of Façade Engineering awards.

Presenters had just a few slides and 3 minutes total to capture their vision and make their mark. The time constraint creates this amazing energy - no room for filler, just pure passion and creativity distilled into bite-sized, powerful moments.

SFE North America

In June, the SFE North America Hub learned about the stunning facades of The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) from Rayhaan Nagrath and 3 World Trade Center from Andrea Zani. The event was kindly sponsored by AGC INTERPANE and Permasteelisa North America and Benson.
