From 20 April 2026 there is a change in the application process for Fellow of the Society of Light and Lighting. Please use the information below to help you submit your application.
Those who apply and gain Fellow class of the Society can use the designatory letters FSLL.
Applicants must hold, as minimum CIBSE Affiliate membership and Member class of the SLL. Applications must be made online, and the following information and documents will be required when submitting your application. NB This process will be required from the 20 April 2026, but you can use it before then.
The following information.
1. Basic Application Information (Name, Address, DoB, Email Address, Telephone Number).
2. Proposers Name and Email address. NB The proposer must be:
- A Fellow of SLL,
- A Fellow of CIBSE,
- A Fellow of another Engineering Professional Institute,
- Registered CEng with any Engineering Council nominated institution, or
- Professionally registered within the construction industry (CIOB, RICS, RIBA), at Fellow level.
NB A direct family member or a member of CIBSE/SLL staff cannot propose an applicant. They must have known you for at least one year.
The following documents in separate files.
3. Qualification Certificates and transcripts in English (upload document(s)), achieved post your successful MSLL application and transcripts in English, also member certificates from other Professional Institutions, and/or from Lighting Courses (duration greater than 2 days).
4. CV – including any relevant education and/or CPD, employment details including percentage of time working in light and lighting, and specific roles/tasks undertaken. Emphasis on most recent roles. (upload document).
5. Contribution to Lighting Report a document outlining your experience and contribution to light and lighting, including any additional CPD.
6. Organisation Chart (upload document) - clearly indicating your position.
