Overview

Are you interested in supporting the professional development of building services engineers?

The Engineering Practice Report (EPR) is a key component in the application process for achieving corporate membership with CIBSE and registration with the Engineering Council.

To support applicants on this journey, CIBSE offers a dedicated review service, where experienced members volunteer their time to provide constructive feedback and guidance on draft EPRs before they are submitted. This peer support ensures applicants are better prepared and more confident in submitting a strong application.

This is a paid service available to both new and existing members, with fees covering the administration of the scheme. In recognition of your contribution, reviewers receive a nominal payment for their support.

The role of an EPR Reviewer:

Read and review applicants’ Engineering Practice Reports (EPRs) in advance of scheduled meetings.

Attend 60-minute virtual meetings with prospective applicants to provide feedback and guidance on their EPR for applicants at Licentiate, Associate and Member grades.

Meetings are coordinated by the CIBSE Membership Department and scheduled around your availability.

Reviews are conducted via Microsoft Teams, typically during UK business hours, though occasional support for international applicants may be required.

What you'll gain:

  • CPD hours: Your volunteering hours count towards your own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • Professional Development: Develop your mentoring and leadership skills, by guiding prospective applicants through the Professional Registration process.
  • Recognition: Be acknowledged by CIBSE as a valued contributor to professional development.
