Location: Open to volunteers worldwide.

Time commitment: Flexible, approximately 2–4 hours per month in committee meetings and working directly with CIBSE staff.

Duration: 1-year commitment.

About the Role

As the Training & Course Development Advisor for the CIBSE Special Interest Groups, you will play a key role in ensuring that CIBSE’s training offerings remain relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with the latest industry developments and member needs.

You will act as the primary liaison between the SIG committee and the CIBSE Training team, providing expert advice on new course topics, content updates, and emerging skills gaps within your area of expertise.

This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about education, skills development, and knowledge sharing, and who want to contribute to the continuous improvement of CIBSE’s training portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify Training Needs:
    • Monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to identify new training requirements.
    • Gather feedback from SIG members on their training needs and preferences.
    • Provide regular updates to the SIG committee on training-related activities and developments, asking for their input and ideas on new courses.
    • Share insights and recommendations with the CIBSE Training team to support their strategic planning.
  • Advise on New Courses:
    • Recommend new course topics to the CIBSE Training team, based on industry demand and member feedback.
    • Work closely with the CIBSE Training team to develop and refine course proposals, providing input on course objectives, content outlines, and intended learning outcomes.
    • Identify potential speakers, trainers, or subject-matter experts from within the SIG or wider network.
  • SIG Member Engagement:
    • Working with the CIBSE staff and the SIG Social Media lead(s), help raise awareness of new and updated courses among SIG members.
    • Encourage member participation in CIBSE training and gather feedback to inform future improvements.
