Are you keen to empassion the next generation of building services engineers?

As a STEM Ambassador, you will visit schools, colleges, and universities to encourage students to consider building services engineering as a career by running student activities which will encourage them to reflect on the challenges engineers face daily.

The scheme is available to all UK-based members of CIBSE who want to inspire the next generation and promote careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and more specifically provide an insight into the life of a building services engineer. Meeting industry experts can have a real impact on students and can inspire their career choices.

Key Responsibilities:

To inspire young minds by sharing real stories from your career, demonstrating how engineering impacts everything from sustainable buildings to cutting-edge technology.
Showcase your unique background, perspective, and experience and the incredible diversity of building services engineering; both in the people who drive it forward and the wide range of operations that keep our world running. You’ll help students see themselves in this industry, regardless of their background, and open their eyes to the exciting opportunities ahead.

Requirements: Applicants must hold CIBSE membership (any grade). A DBS check will be required, and is available through STEM Learning. (Find out how to prepare.)

You don't need to have a background in education to take part. We've partnered with STEM Learning, and they will provide you with training and guidance on how to plan your visits and prepare your activities. You'll also have access to presentation templates that CIBSE has curated for you to use during your school visits.
