Registration is now open for the CIBSE Technical Symposium 2026, taking place at Loughborough University on 26–27 March 2026.
The 2026 Symposium will explore the theme Fit for 2050: Redesigning Spaces for Wellbeing, Inclusivity, and Sustainable Performance, bringing together industry experts, policymakers, researchers and practitioners to examine how building services design must evolve to meet future social, environmental and climate challenges.
Fit for 2050 – a challenge for the profession
Dr Zoe De Grussa, CIBSE’s Research Manager, commented: "Fit for 2050’ isn’t just a theme—it’s a challenge! How do we create buildings that are healthy, inclusive, and resilient to the climate crisis? For CIBSE members, who shape the buildings of today and tomorrow, these issues are central to their work. Meeting this challenge requires collaboration, and Loughborough University - home to one of the UK’s largest integrated schools for the built environment, combining expertise in architecture, building, and civil engineering with interdisciplinary research - is the perfect setting. The symposium is truly special in uniting policymakers, industry, and academia to explore bold, practical solutions for the buildings of the future."

A collaborative and internationally recognised event
The 2026 CIBSE Technical Symposium is endorsed by ASHRAE, with CIBSE partnering with IBPSA-England and Loughborough University to deliver this flagship research and knowledge-sharing event.
Hosted at Loughborough University — home to one of the UK’s largest integrated schools for the built environment — the Symposium will benefit from world-class facilities and interdisciplinary expertise spanning architecture, building services and civil engineering.
