2025 CIBSE ANZ Awards Celebration and Announcement

News
24 Oct 25

At the 2025 CIBSE ANZ Young Engineers Awards ceremony last night, we celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of our young engineering professionals, including students, graduates, mentors, and the businesses that support them.

The event was held at Rydges Melbourne and provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to catch up with both longstanding and new colleagues, as well as to recognise outstanding talent and innovation in the building services engineering sector.

This year, the awards were focused on "Building Performance," and video entries from students, graduates and young engineers showcased the innovative thought leadership of young professionals who are asked to reimagine the way building performance is perceived.

Our guest speaker, Jack Blackwell, Zero Carbon Buildings Officer at the City of Melbourne, was right on brief with his keynote address topic - Building Melbourne's future, discussing what the City of Melbourne is doing to create a sustainable future for the municipality, and how today's young engineers can help.

After Jack’s keynote, CIBSE ANZ Young Engineers Network Chair Enda Seyama-Heneghan took the stage to introduce the award categories.

One of our hosts of the evening, James Moyes, Chair of the CIBSE Victorian Chapter, spoke about the CIBSE Presidential theme for the coming year, which is Paying It Forward and the “currency of volunteering”. He said “Every hour, every idea, every act of generosity strengthens our profession and leaves a legacy for future generations. That spirit is alive and thriving here in Australia and New Zealand. CIBSE is powered by people, people like all of you who are here tonight. When we share knowledge, mentor others, and create opportunities, we build a legacy that outlasts any single project or role. The impact multiplies—strengthening our industry, empowering the next generation, and ensuring that building services engineering continues to evolve with purpose and integrity.”

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us at last night’s event, including all our wonderful sponsors, our winners and finalists, our outstanding CIBSE Committee volunteer members, and all the organisations that support this community. Also to all of our incredible judges for their valuable time and effort put into the awards. We hope to see you all again next year!
