As the role of operational performance becomes increasingly pivotal to the success of sustainable buildings, CIBSE is proud to present its Measuring Performance and Facilities Management Conference, taking place on 19 June 2025 at the Congress Centre, London.

This year’s conference brings together leading voices from across the built environment to explore the evolving landscape of building performance. With a focus on building management systems (BMS), data-driven decision-making, and health and wellbeing metrics, the event will offer timely insights into the latest innovations driving operational excellence. It also supports and expands on the principles outlined in CIBSE Guide M: Maintenance engineering and management, reinforcing best practice in performance-led building operations.

David Stevens, CIBSE Vice President, said: “As we navigate the evolving landscape of building performance and facilities management, it’s clear that innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making are more crucial than ever. This conference provides a vital platform to explore the latest advancements, tackle pressing challenges, and shape the future of our industry. I’m looking forward to insightful discussions with experts and peers, ensuring we continue to drive excellence in building management and sustainability.”

A programme focused on collaboration, innovation and impact

The day will feature four carefully curated sessions:

Session 1: Collaboration and accountability in a changing landscape
Chaired by Vince Arnold, CIBSE President Elect and Trustee, this session sets the tone with discussions from David Stevens, Robert Nicoll, and Tamsin Tweddell, exploring how accountability and cross-disciplinary collaboration can unlock greater value in facilities management.

Session 2: Balancing performance with building and occupant health
Chaired by David Stevens, this session features Dr Philip Webb, Peter Brown, and Saurabh Bhandari, delving into how performance optimisation can be harmonised with occupant wellbeing—ensuring that buildings are not only efficient, but also healthy and human-centric.

Session 3: Successful collaboration and lessons learnt – Design Vs. Maintenance
With Joanna Harris (UK&I Head of Technical Services, Sodexo) chairing, and speakers including Bernard Crouch, James Campbell, Joanna Harris, and Sylvain Blanchard, this panel will reflect on critical learnings from real-world projects where long-term maintenance outcomes informed or challenged design decisions.

Session 4: Post occupancy evaluation
Chaired by Volkan Doda, Head of Design Technologies at Atelier Ten, this session includes insights from Dr Victoria Tink, Ellen Salazar, Tom McNeil, and Volkan Doda, showcasing how POE can be used to close the feedback loop, identify improvement opportunities, and validate design intent in practice.

AI and the future of facilities management

The conference is supported by Gold Sponsor OptimiseAi, a pioneer in AI-led building performance solutions. Speaking on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in the sector, Nick Tune, CEO of OptimiseAi, said: “AI, and especially semantic AI, creates a living dialogue with your building and the day to day changes that might influence the people and conditions within it—continuously learning, adapting, and optimising across countless data points. What’s more, AI can deliver this without the need for a series of onsite visits, providing energy and building efficiencies at a fraction of the cost of a traditional approach”.

Why Attend?

With an emphasis on practical insights, cross-industry collaboration, and actionable knowledge, this year’s conference is essential for professionals involved in facilities management, building operations, sustainability, and digital innovation. Whether you’re looking to deepen your technical understanding, connect with peers, or stay ahead of emerging trends, the Measuring Performance and Facilities Management Conference offers a unique opportunity to engage with the people and ideas shaping the future of our built environment.
