In announcing the record-breaking shortlist for its 2024 awards, CIBSE is demonstrating the breadth and topicality of its expertise, with 18 categories and an overall Building Performance Champion to be announced.

The Building Performance Awards remain the only awards programme to recognise the actual, measured performance of completed buildings and this year’s shortlist contains exemplar buildings both in the UK and overseas, showcasing the very best building performance across the globe.

The projects shortlisted range from the magnificent, such as the Kyoto City Hall Annex building, to the pragmatic, such as the district heating upgrade for residents in Southwark. The common factor in all the projects is the immense impact of the buildings’ design on the people who use them and the environment in which they sit.

The best consultancies are recognised, as are innovations introduced by product manufacturers.  In recent years the scope of the awards has been expanded to include a focus on embodied carbon and digital innovation: both categories representing the most topical areas of expertise and progress.

Taken as a whole, this body of impressive award entries recognises the people, practices and products that are pioneering a safer, more sustainable, and healthier built environment.

The Building Performance Awards judges are keen to emphasise that every shortlisted entry has achieved an exceptional standard, with a rigorous and detailed evaluation process required to identify a winner.

Returning as the headline sponsor for the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2024 are Tamlite Lighting. Other category sponsors are: ABB, Airflow Developments, CMR, Crane Fluid Systems, Gratte Brothers Group and Ideal Heating Commercial.

The Awards evening is taking place on Thursday 29 February 2024 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London. The evening's highlight will be the crowning of the Building Performance Champion, selected from the 18 individual category winners.
