CIBSE celebrates National Engineers Week 2024

18 Feb 24

As we step into the future during this year's National Engineers Week, CIBSE is proud to celebrate the incredible contributions of our members to the engineering community. The theme for 2024, 'Welcome to the Future,' resonates strongly with our commitment to shaping the next generation of engineers through our STEM Ambassadors scheme.

CIBSE STEM Ambassadors: Guiding the future pioneers

At CIBSE, we acknowledge the profound impact our members can have on the future of the engineering industry. Our STEM Ambassadors are already making strides by regularly visiting schools and colleges, sharing insights into careers in building services. The dedication of our volunteers is commendable, but we believe that by increasing their numbers, covering more ground, and influencing more pupils, we can make an even greater difference.

Our STEM Ambassador Scheme, in partnership with STEM Learning, aims to support volunteers in all 17 of our regions in the UK, as well as in Ireland, Hong Kong, ANZ, and UAE with its primary focus on attracting new entrants to the field of building services engineering.

This National Engineers Week, we call upon our members to join our esteemed STEM Ambassadors and contribute to the future of our industry. By becoming a STEM Ambassador, you actively participate in guiding young minds and inspiring them to explore the vast opportunities available through CIBSE University Courses and Apprenticeship Programmes.

To support our STEM Ambassadors, we have launched the CIBSE STEM website which hosts CIBSE-specific career materials and presentations. Registration through the hub is simple, offering assistance with DBS checks, online training, and, most importantly, access to schools.

Adrian Catchpole, CIBSE President, says: "As President of CIBSE, I am thrilled to witness our members actively shaping the future through our STEM Ambassadors scheme. By inspiring the next generation and promoting careers in building services, we are collectively making a profound impact. Together, we have the power to build a brighter future for our industry, the engineers of tomorrow and society as a whole."
