CIBSE is proud to announce that it has been recognised with two prestigious accolades at the Memcom Excellence Awards 2025, held last night. These awards celebrate the very best in the membership sector, recognising outstanding achievements across leadership, engagement, publications, events, and team or individual contributions.
CIBSE was honoured in two categories:
Winner – Best Celebration Event
CIBSE’s Building Performance Awards (BPAs) were named Best Celebration Event, recognising their unique role in championing measured performance outcomes in the built environment. Unlike many industry awards, the BPAs focus not just on design intent or performance specifications, but on real, measured building performance.
The BPAs are open to organisations and individuals around the world who are responsible for the design, commissioning, construction, installation, and operation of low-energy, high-performance buildings, as well as the manufacturers whose products enable efficiency and innovation. By celebrating those who deliver tangible results, the BPAs set a benchmark for excellence and inspire the sector to continually raise standards.
Highly Commended – Best Education Initiative (Engagement)
CIBSE also received a Highly Commended recognition in the Best Education Initiative (Engagement) category for its CIBSE Flush Challenge.
The Flush Challenge is a unique educational game designed to engage pupils aged 9 to 11 in the fascinating world of building services engineering. Delivered through CIBSE STEM Ambassadors and proudly supported in part by CIBSE Patrons, the game helps children explore concepts such as water use, sustainability, and the vital role of engineers in everyday life.
By making building services engineering accessible and fun, the Flush Challenge supports CIBSE’s long-term commitment to addressing the skills gap in the industry and nurturing the next generation of engineers. It exemplifies how creative outreach can inspire young minds and open pathways into engineering careers.
Celebrating excellence across the membership sector
The Memcom Excellence Awards bring together professional bodies, trade associations, membership charities, trade unions, and the wider not-for-profit membership sector to recognise and celebrate outstanding work. Winning in two categories demonstrates CIBSE’s ongoing impact, not only in setting standards of professional excellence, but also in investing in the future of the industry through education and engagement.
CIBSE’s success at the Memcom Excellence Awards underlines the Institution’s commitment to being an inclusive, forward-looking international professional body that celebrates achievement, supports innovation and inspires future generations globally.
