Royal Academy of Engineering launch inclusive leadership programme

The Royal Academy of Engineering are launching a new, fully-funded Inclusive Leadership Programme to champion and grow inclusive practice and leadership in the engineering industry. They are seeking to partner with ambitious organisations to create teams of individuals who can work collectively to role model inclusion and advocate for widespread systemic change across the engineering profession.  

Each organisation will put forward a team of four individuals from all levels of seniority across the business. The Project Lead for this opportunity will be a mid-career leader, however the team will consist of an early-career leader, a senior leader, and human resources leader from within the organisation.  

If you, or someone in your network, has leadership qualities and is currently working in engineering industry, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required to be able to lead the engineering industry towards greater inclusion. 

If your team is successful, you will receive a specially curated programme of inclusive leadership training to develop your own understanding of inclusion and how to embed it in the workplace. You will then be supported by EDI experts to put your learning into action through the design and delivery of a 12-month inclusion-focussed project to increase the inclusivity of your organisation’s culture or the engineering work you deliver for society. Throughout the programme, you will have access to a combination of the following to help you embed your learning: 

  • Reciprocal mentoring 
  • Sponsorship from a senior leader 
  • Industry-leading coaching with professional psychologists 
  • Peer-to-peer workshops. 

You will have many opportunities to meet with awardees in different engineering organisations, discuss challenges, share learnings and support one another, so this is a fantastic opportunity to build your professional network inside and outside of your own organisation. As you progress through the programme, the Academy will support you, your team and your organisation to build your profiles as role models of inclusive leadership within the engineering industry.
