Young Engineers Network – A change is afoot

News
25 Oct 21

Melanie Finch is stepping away from her role as Young Engineers Network Chair for CIBSE Australia and New Zealand after one and half years at the helm.

Mel has been a role model for Young Engineers, having won the CIBSE ANZ Graduate of Year title in 2018 she went on to chair CIBSE ANZ YEN and host the Awards in 2020 and chair the judging panel in 2020 and 2021.

Through a very difficult 18 months, she has been a vital member of the CIBSE ANZ committee and the NSW YEN committee in planning events, helping with university engagement initiatives around the region.

Mel is a Mechanical Engineer who found her love for Buildings Service Engineering “by accident” through an internship at Norman Disney and Young.

After almost 4 years, she is bravely stepping away from Engineering to try her hand at Management Consulting.
We wish Melanie all the best with her new endeavours.

Prateek Alkesh who currently chairs YEN NSW will step into the role of YEN ANZ Chair. Prateek is a Mechanical Engineer with Aecom working towards his CIBSE Professional Membership and Registration.

Prateek is coming into this role with much support from the ANZ committee.
“I am thrilled to have Prateek step into this role” - ANZ Chair, Mark Crawford

With things opening up, Prateek sees this as an optimal time to get some engagement going across the states and region. There are a few social and mentoring initiatives planned in NSW that he would like to extend to our chapters in the region to bring the engineering community closer together and allow younger engineers to gain from the experiences of some of their more seasoned counterparts.
