CIBSE, supported by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), has developed this training course to ensure that the skills necessary to implement the CIBSE Heat Networks Code of Practice (CP1) are available across the building services sector.

This is a one-day course aimed at providing an introduction to Heat Networks and the Code of Practice for those who are involved in developing Heat Networks and either using or specifying the Code.

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain a general understanding of Heat Networks
  • Gain an understanding of the aims and benefits of the Code
  • Gain an understanding of how the Code should be used and the key themes running through the document
  • Gain an overview of some of the key objectives and minimum requirements for each stage of heat network development
  • Understand how to demonstrate compliance with the Code using the accompanying checklists

In line with ISO 17024, CIBSE Certification Ltd is required to reassess the competence of its registrants when major changes take place in regulations and methodology. One major recent change is the update to the Building Regulations Part L, the first major change to Part L since 2013. Part L covers building regulations for both new and existing buildings and the changes affect anyone who provides energy advice. As such this course provides guidance on the links between Part L and the Code.

Your course will be hosted on Microsoft Teams if ‘Remote’ or at our headquarters in Balham, London if ‘Face-to-face’. Joining instructions will be included in the booking confirmation sent upon successful booking of a live course.

Please expect the training to be run by one of the speakers listed under Trainer.

This course is aimed at people working in the energy or buildings sector who want to find out about the Heat Networks Code of Practice and what it means for their work and projects.

The Code covers a range of disciplines and therefore the course will be suitable for a range of delegates, including project managers, consultants, engineers, contractors and operators. Particular sections of the course will be more directly relevant to each of these groups but all delegates will benefit from understanding how the objectives and requirements come together to ensure a successful project.

Delegates who have more experience of working on heat network projects are advised to attend the Heat Networks Code of Practice (CP1) Certification Course.
