The CIBSE Building Performance Awards ceremony will be held at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London, on Wednesday, 1 March 2023. Bookings have now sold out.

Our Host - Angela Barnes


After a career in health and social care, Angela embarked on her lifelong dream to be a comedian. Within a couple of years, she had won the BBC New Comedy Award and has gone on to appear on Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo and Russell Howard’s Good News.

As well as becoming a regular on BBC Radio 4 having featured on The Now Show she took on the role of host on The News Quiz and hosted BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack and co-hosted the podcast We Are History with John O’Farrell. Angela was also featured on The One Show reporting on women and ADHD after her own diagnosis.

Angela’s smart self-deprecating one-liners cover the trouble with her hometown as well as the mixed blessings of technology, the tedium of friends children, and the difficulties of clothing choices. A regular at Edinburgh Fringe she’s done shows about nuclear bunkers and shows in nuclear bunkers. She also set up the Home Safe collective, which helped comedians at the Fringe.

Our Guest Speaker - The Rt Hon Chris Skidmore MP

The Rt Hon Chris Skidmore MP has been the MP for Kingswood since 2010. He has served in five government departments between 2015 and 2020 including as Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation twice between 2018 and 2020. In 2019, he was also appointed Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth, attending Cabinet, during which time he signed the UK's commitment to Net Zero by 2050 into law, and helped secure the UK Presidency of COP26. Most recently, he served as the Chair of the Government’s Independent Net Zero Review, and published the 340 page ‘Mission Zero’ report in January 2023. He is currently Chair of the All Party Group on the Environment and is also a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
