A chance to present with CIBSE President at ASHRAE meeting in Atlanta
CIBSE President Stephen Lisk is seeking CIBSE members to potentially join him to present at the ASHRAE Atlanta, GA, USA meeting on January 12-16, 2019 as part of the CIBSE ASHRAE liaison sponsored session - it is a speculative bid so it will not be confirmed finally until September i.e. it will be subject to acceptance by the ASHRAE conference committee.
The seminar will be based around Stephen Lisk’s vision and associated presidential theme. A draft title for the seminar is “Adapting to thrive - shaping resilient future building performance through historical insight”.
We are looking for presentations that inform and excite the audience by showing how, by considering how challenges that have been unearthed in current and historical systems have contributed to changes and developments in ‘building services’ engineering (HVAC&R, fire, lighting, lifts, public health, energy assessment etc.) that will, or already have, delivered healthier/safer/environmentally benign/more productive and more resilient buildings.
You are invited to submit a brief proposal (5-10 bulleted points) for a presentation that would address an aspect of that, reasonably broad, subject. This would be an 18 minute Powerpoint slide presentation that does not require a written paper. The presentation must to be based on up-to-date technology/techniques and be founded on good evidence (and not conjecture).
If chosen you would join Stephen Lisk as a potential presenter at the Atlanta meeting. Please note that speakers pay a reduced meeting registration rate but receive no deferment of expenses from CIBSE or ASHRAE.
Please let Tim Dwyer, firstname.lastname@example.org know by Monday 11th June 2018 if you would like to be considered with an outline of the presentation (5-10 bulleted points) - together with your abbreviated CV.
If you are selected to be part of the bid you would subsequently need to produce the following by the Monday 9th July 2018:
A final agreed title for the presentation
Abstract for the presentation (Approx 100-200 words)
4 SIMPLE learning objectives for the presentation
4 SIMPLE SHORT Questions PLUS Answers that can be answered directly from your presentation (You will receive more guidance on this if needed)
Then the Powerpoint presentation would need to be completed (to meet ASHRAE’s presentation requirements) by mid-December 2018.
