End of Year Celebrations Around the Region

Back to CIBSE ANZ home

CIBSE members around the region celebrated the end of another year and the beginning of a new decade in style last month. Each chapter with its own twist.

The South Australian Committee invited Geoff Cooper, Australian Indigenous Elder for the law courts of South, to speak of his personal experiences as part of the Stolen Generation at an intimate lunch at the Caledonian Hotel.

In Auckland the celebrations were above par as members were invited to Holey Moley to put their putting skills to the test.

CIBSE YEN NSW celebrated the end to a great year with 40 colleagues and peers from the industry against a backdrop of sunset on Sydney’s Darling Harbour. There was plenty of reasons to raise a toast, with food and drinks on offer to thank our members and all ticket funds from the night donated to Mates in Construction.

Matilda Bay Restaurant once again hosted the CIBSE WA celebrations. 79 members and guests attended this annual event, the principal networking event of the year for the chapter. It included an excellent meal, a raffle and a door prize in addition to the opportunity to hear GBCA CEO, Davina Rooney speak about the challenges and opportunities facing Australia in the years to come.

CIBSE ANZ Chair, Paul Angus attended with his partner and CIBSE ANZ BDM Sharon Pestonji was also there. Sharon drew the card for the Door Prize, a very nice bottle of Chivas Regal Scotch Whisky, and initially drew Chapter Chair Andrew Crabtree but he regretfully directed that another card be drawn to avoid any accusations of rigging.

Many thanks to sponsors Daikin, Fredon, Honeywell and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries whose support made this event the perennial success that it always is.

CIBSE Victoria and CIBSE YEN joint forces for a celebration at Father's Office Speakeasy Bar with colleagues from kindred organisations, CIOB and ICE. Together they toasted to another decade of collaborative industry events.

Thanks to sponsors Constructive Recruitment for supporting CIBSE NSW, VIC and WA events throughout the year.

The CIBSE chapters and all YEN groups are gearing up for another packed schedule of popular CPD seminars. Many have already lined-up fantasic technical events for 2020 including a joint taskforce working towards the 2020 ANZ seminar series in August that will focus on what the built environment could look like in 2030 using the best technologies, strategies and resources available today.

In 2020 we hope to see you along to an event or two... or three!
