Medal Proposals FAQs

Yes, the Nominations Panel has agreed that it is appropriate to consider proposals for posthumous awards, provided they are made within two years of the death of the person proposed.

Please don’t worry. If you are not sure, just propose the medal which you think comes closest to the level of service. The Nominations Panel will take a judgement and may well recommend a different medal if that is more appropriate.

Whilst we don’t wish to discourage this if it is what you want, we believe that four strong referees are sufficient.

The full list of all individual medals and awards winners is on our Honorary Fellows and Medallists page. If you can’t find what you are looking for, please feel free to email us at [email protected]

Yes, please. This is not a legal process, but we would ask if you could either declare potential conflicts of interest or avoid them by getting a colleague or a committee to submit a proposal instead of yourself.
