Senior Mechanical Engineer
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Kent – £55,000–£65,000 + Package Are you are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer position where location, flexibility and genuine opportunities for progression matter as much as the work itself? Based in Kent, this is an opportunity to join a small, highly driven building services consultancy that is growing because its people want to grow with it. Retention levels are exceptionally high, due to the working environment and range of projects. (Education, Health Care, Commercial, Residential, Heritage etc.) Due to a variation of success framework appointments, the business has a secure workload for the next 6 years. Their work ranges from early-stage feasibility and design through to the delivery and monitoring of complex developments, giving engineers exposure to a broad range of technical challenges. They have built their reputation through technical expertise, strong client relationships and a team that genuinely wants to move the business forward. As their employees develop their skills and ambitions, the company is prepared to grow around them, creating opportunities for people who want to take on more responsibility and play a meaningful role in its future. The location is a key part of the appeal, particularly for engineers living in Kent who want to work for an established consultancy without the daily commute into London. Hybrid working is also a feature of the role, offering flexibility alongside the opportunity to work closely with a supportive, hands-on team. The Role As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take a leading role in the delivery of Mechanical building services projects, overseeing design work from initial concept through to detailed design and project completion. You will be responsible for developing practical, energy-efficient and commercially sound engineering solutions, while managing project programmes, budgets and resources to ensure work is delivered to a high standard. Working closely with clients, architects, contractors and other members of the project team, you will coordinate mechanical designs with the wider building services and construction requirements. You will prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports, attend client meetings and undertake site visits to ensure that designs are implemented in accordance with specifications, relevant regulations and industry standards. An important part of the position will be supporting and mentoring junior engineers, sharing your technical knowledge and helping to improve design processes and quality standards across the team. You will also contribute to maintaining compliance with health and safety requirements, keeping up to date with changes in legislation and emerging technologies, and ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently without compromising engineering quality. About You You will be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer ready to take on a senior position, with the technical ability to lead projects and the confidence to work directly with clients and other project stakeholders. You will be comfortable managing your own workload, supporting less experienced engineers and taking responsibility for the quality and successful delivery of your designs. Just as importantly, you will be someone who wants to contribute beyond your immediate project responsibilities. This is a small business with a strong work ethic and clear ambitions for the future, so it will suit an engineer who enjoys being involved, taking ownership and helping shape the direction of a growing consultancy. Rather than being part of a large corporate organisation where progression can be dictated by structure and headcount, this business takes a more personal approach, then please get in touch for a confidential conversation.
