Electrical Design Engineer - Building Services

Your new role A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team based in Glasgow. You will provide electrical design expertise, technical guidance, and project support across a variety of refurbishment and fit‑out projects. This role is office‑based. Key Responsibilities: Producing detailed electrical building services designs including lighting, power, containment, fire alarms, security systems, data installations, and LV distribution. Carrying out electrical load calculations, cable sizing, lighting calculations, and equipment selection using industry‑standard software. Preparing technical drawings, schematics, and design documentation in line with project specifications. Conducting site surveys to assess existing installations and support accurate design development. Ensuring all electrical designs comply with BS 7671, building regulations, and relevant industry standards. Supporting project teams with technical input from concept through to installation and commissioning. Liaising with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure smooth design coordination and technical clarity. Assisting with tender stages by producing design information and electrical estimates when required. Reviewing installation quality during construction phases and resolving technical queries. What you'll need to succeed Strong background in electrical building services engineering within contractor, consultancy, or design & build environments. Solid understanding of electrical distribution, lighting design, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, data systems, and associated services. Experience using relevant software such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux, AutoCAD, or similar tools. Good knowledge of BS 7671 and related electrical standards and guidance. Excellent communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment. Full right to work in the UK. Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer
The Client: Our client is a well-established and award-winning MEP Building Services consultancy seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team of 15 engineers. The business delivers high-quality mechanical and electrical design solutions across a diverse portfolio, including Healthcare and Education projects, with a strong reputation for technical excellence and client relationships. The Role: As an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of mechanical building services design from concept through to completion. You will work closely with senior engineers and directly with clients, contributing to technically challenging and rewarding projects. Key responsibilities include: Developing mechanical design concepts and detailed design solutions Producing and reviewing design briefs based on client or senior engineer requirements Taking responsibility for technical and financial decisions on assigned projects Undertaking site surveys and preparing detailed mechanical condition and compliance reports Ensuring compliance with British Standards, Building Regulations and Codes of Practice Carrying out energy assessments and evaluating system performance Coordinating with other disciplines and understanding cross-discipline design parameters Assisting in the preparation of drawings using CAD Managing workload effectively to meet programme deadlines Exercising independent technical judgement with limited supervision About You: We’re looking for a motivated and technically capable engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career.
