Are you interested in volunteering and getting involved in CIBSE activities? There are a number of roles in a variety of areas across the institution both in the UK and internationally, which allow you to get involved.
Volunteering is a great way to get more involved in CIBSE, provides great rewards, enhances your CV and allows you to give something back to the industry as well.

Knowledge Management Committee and Knowledge Generation Panel
In the context of current concerns about building safety and climate change and the imperative for net zero buildings, the need for robust CIBSE guidance is greater than ever. If you’d like to influence the strategic development and delivery of CIBSE’s future knowledge and updating of existing content, joining one of the Knowledge Committees is a fantastic opportunity. We welcome applications from members across a range of age, gender, background, experience and expertise, and encourage participation from different sectors and specialisms involved in the performance of buildings throughout their whole lifecycle.
We’re looking for individuals with:
- Enthusiasm for championing all aspects of building performance.
- Awareness of sector knowledge needs and the latest developments in industry.
- Experience of using or contributing to CIBSE knowledge, guidance and research.

Up to twenty
||Includes four meetings a year and virtual meeting facilities will be available. Some papers are circulated between meetings for attention by members.
|Includes two face to face meetings a year at CIBSE Technical Symposium (Spring) and Build2Perform Live (Autumn). In between those meetings, the Panel will work remotely using online collaborative tools and virtual meetings.

CIBSE members wishing to join either the Knowledge Management Committee or Knowledge Generation Panel are invited to send a short CV (maximum two pages) accompanied by a short statement of no more than 300 words setting out which committee they want to be considered for and how they meet the above criteria.

Regional Almoner Required
The CIBSE North West Region are looking for a volunteer to take on the role of Regional Almoner.
The work of the CIBSE Benevolent Fund Trust depends heavily on the efforts of Almoners who currently represent each Region of the Institution.
The role of the Almoner is to care for those members, past members, and/or dependants, who are less fortunate and who are in need, within the compass of the limits set out by the Benevolent Fund Trustees.
An Almoner should have a reasonable knowledge of social care in the Community; have a sympathetic demeanour; be able to give forthright advice; and be able to take immediate and effective action where it is necessary.
The role of Almoner demands adequate time availability, whether the aspirant is still involved in business, or who has retired, in the necessary attendances at meetings at Regional level, and at Balham, together with maintaining contact with current and new Regional Client dependants of the Trust, on a regular basis.
