Beyond Heating: Unlocking the Full Potential of Ground Source Heat Pumps

Join CIBSE East Midlands for a technical session with Chris Davidson, Chief Technical Officer at Genius Energy Lab, exploring the opportunities and challenges of ground source heat pumps in complex commercial and public-sector applications.

Drawing on more than 20 years of industry experience, Chris will examine how heating, cooling, heat recovery and ambient networks can be brought together to improve system performance, reduce carbon and deliver commercially viable solutions.

The session will move beyond theory to consider the practical design decisions that determine whether these systems perform as intended—from integrating passive and active cooling to recovering waste heat and designing shared ground-loop and ambient-temperature networks.

Chris is a Certified GeoExchange Designer and currently leads the HPA UK working group covering shared ground loops, low-carbon heat networks and drilling. He has also contributed to the development of HNTAS technical standards for ambient networks and shared ground loops.
