Meet Our Guest Speaker: Rod Slater

Rod Slater is an accomplished architect, artist, yachtsman and motorcycling enthusiast whose life has been shaped by adventure and exploration. After earning a Master’s degree in Architecture from Montana State University, he built a diverse career spanning construction and entrepreneurship.

Having sailed from the United States to New Zealand in 1991–1993, Rod has since travelled the world, including a recent circumnavigation aboard his yacht, Vela Dera. He also documented his motorcycle adventures in his 2022 book, Two Years on Two Wheels.

Drawing on his experiences, Rod will share insights on environmental challenges, life at sea, human resilience and creative problem-solving.
