Giovani Tauckoor
Head of Public Health & Fire Protection - Technical Director- Building Services at WSP ME, SoPHE UAE Chair
My professional journey in Public Health Engineering has spanned more than two decades across Mauritius, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East. Today, I am privileged to serve as Technical Director at WSP, Chair of SoPHE MENA, and a longstanding member of the CIBSE MENA Technical Committee. Throughout my career, I have remained passionate about advancing the design, performance, and sustainability of Public Health systems, while supporting the development of the next generation of engineers.
Since becoming involved with SoPHE MENA in 2020, I have had the opportunity to work alongside dedicated industry professionals to establish a strong platform for technical knowledge sharing, professional development, and industry engagement across the region. Through webinars, CPD’s, technical events, and collaboration with industry partners, we have sought to raise awareness of the critical role Public Health Engineering plays in creating healthier, safer, and more sustainable built environments.
Looking ahead, my vision for the coming year is centred on continued growth and collaboration. We aim to expand SoPHE membership across the MENA region, strengthen engagement with authorities and industry stakeholders, and further promote the standardisation of Public Health Engineering practices. A key focus will also be enhancing knowledge sharing through technical guidance, regional collaboration with CIBSE and SoPHE headquarters, and the development of practical resources that support engineers throughout the design and delivery process.
The challenges facing our industry continue to evolve, from water conservation and sustainability to health resilience and digital transformation. By working together as a professional community, we have a unique opportunity to shape best practice, inspire innovation, and elevate the profile of Public Health Engineering across the region. I am excited about what lies ahead and look forward to contributing to the continued success of our profession and the wider engineering community.
