Who can apply?
Anyone who holds current SFE membership. SFE Officer roles, Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary must be SFE Fellow, Member or Associate.
We welcome volunteers from across the façade engineering community, including:
- Engineers, consultants, contractors, architects, and other façade specialists
- Early career professionals and experienced practitioners
- Individuals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines
A passion for façade engineering and a willingness to contribute are the most important qualities.
SFE Board
The SFE is led by the SFE Board which provides executive leadership and direction, its remit includes SFE structure, roles, recruitment and tenure, SFE membership, SFE committee management and society finances.The Board is made up of several types of roles with different routes into those roles.
Routes onto SFE Board and committees
If you hold SFE membership at any grade there a number of ways to volunteer with the Board or various committees. If you’re interested in helping shape the future of façade engineering, we’d love to hear from you, please contact [email protected] to find out more.
SFE Committees: If you’re interested in joining one of the 9 SFE committees the Committee Chair can advise on activity, level of commitment and vacancies. Contributing committee members can potentially succeed to Vice Chair, by appointment through the committee with the expectation that Vice Chairs are appointed to Committee Chair by SFE Board. Committee Chairs sit on the SFE Board.
SFE Board, Elected Member: Each year, in the two-week period following the AGM call notice SFE Members can nominate themselves for one of these 5 positions. If more that 5 nominations are received an election will be held with SFE corporate members eligible to vote.
SFE Board, Officers: It is only possible for SFE Members to nominate themselves for Officer roles when they become vacant, either by reaching the maximum term of office or stepping down early. The SFE Board will make their nomination for the roles but it’s also possible for those holding SFE membership at ASFE, MSFE or FSFE to nominate themselves. If additional nominations are received an election will be held.
