STEAM Work Placement - Information for Students

Why should I apply for a work experience placement with a lighting company?

If you are interested in creativity, technology, design, science or the arts could gain so much from a lighting design work experience placement, here are some reasons why they should consider applying:

  1. Hands-On Experience: Learn the practicalities of lighting design, including working with professional equipment and software used in buildings, theatre, events, TV, or film.

Student Guidance

Please read before applying. 

GENERAL

  1. The SLL are not responsible for the work placements advertised on this website and take no responsibility for you (the student) obtaining work experience using this website. 
  2. All questions should be directed to the appropriate company contact. 

APPLICATION

  1. Prior to completing the application form you (the student) should email the company to confirm that they are still accepting applications for the work placement advertised on this website. 
  2. You should complete the application form. This gives you ownership of the process and is a valuable part of the work experience process.
  3. All boxes on the form should be completed (apart from those that are optional). The form needs to be signed by a responsible adult. This could be your Parent/Guardian or Teacher and this could be a wet or dry (digital) signature.
  4. The application form should be emailed to the company with a covering email and copied to a Parent/Guardian or Teacher. Good Luck. 

COMMENCING WORK PLACEMENT

  1. Remember to give the company your Parent/Guardian contact details.
  2. Remember to give the company your school’s contact details. 
  3. Wear clothes and shoes appropriate to the company you are working with (you should be advised). 
  4. Know who you are meeting and where you go on the first day
  5. Turn up on time.
