Overview

The Internal Quality Assurer will observe an interview and review grading decisions via attending a live session or by viewing a recording to ensure assessments meet the requirements of the assessment plan and to monitor the assessor's conduct.

The EPA is a national qualification, regulated by Ofqual, and the apprentice’s Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) are assessed to confirm their occupational competence. The EPA’s KSBs are directly mapped to the UK-SPEC competences for EngTech and IEng.

CIBSE is passionate about EPA, and together with your help we can increase opportunity and diversity within the building services sector.

The role of a moderator is to ensure:

  • The Moderator will be observing that CIBSE’s administration processes, assessor conduct, and the requirements of Ofqual and the Engineering Council are being followed
  • That the assessment meets the requirements stipulated in the apprenticeship’s assessment plan
  • That the End Point Assessment is a comparable and equitable assessment for all apprentices
  • That CIBSE’s standards and consistency are being maintained
  • Observe if there are any areas where general training may be required and if any process improvements are needed
  • Provide feedback and any recommendations for improvements as required
  • Undertake annual EPA refresher training and standardisation events.
