Responsibilities: The Chair of a CIBSE Special Interest Group Committee provides leadership and direction for a CIBSE Special Interest Group Committee.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Representing their SIG at the CIBSE Groups and Societies Meeting and CIBSE Council, and informing their committee of the discussions and decisions arising from these meetings (except when these are confidential.) 
  • Representing the views of their SIG members and committee.  
  • Chairing SIG committee meetings.  
  • Leading the annual activity planning process for their SIG and supervising the committee in the planning and organising of SIG activities.  
  • Holding an Annual General Meeting and presenting a report on the activity of the SIG to members. 
  • Representing CIBSE and their SIG at events. 
  • Encouraging enthusiastic support for CIBSE, their SIG and its activities.  

Description: CIBSE's Special Interest Groups encompass topics that cut across our building services engineering disciplines to provide up to date information and resources. Each group offers a programme of events each year from which you can participate to fulfil your CPD, as well as communicating with their members about the relevant policy and guidance updates for their chosen area of interest. 

Number of hours required: Approx 12 hours in meetings and additional hours as required per year.
