The University of Technology Sydney celebrated the International Day of Light this year with artworks on display by UTS School of Design Interior Architecture, Lighting Design postgraduate and undergraduate students.

The collection included atmospheric light and sound environments responding to the unique site, and investigated themes of sustainability, light, darkness and well-being.

Following a request from UTS Senior Lecturer Dr Emrah Ulas, a long term CIBSE Society of Light and Lighting member, CIBSE ANZ and the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) were proud to partner with the University for this event that was open to the public from 16 – 19 May at the Coal Loader, Centre for Sustainability, in Waverton NSW.
“This was a fantastic initiative by UTS” noted Stephen Hennessy, acting SLL Representative for ANZ “The quality of the exhibits was excellent, and the way the designers worked with this unique environment was nothing short of spectacular. The staff and students should be immensely proud of what they have achieved”
No news yet on whether UTS will make this an annual event – but if they do, you would be well advised to attend the next one.

“Such an inspiration and enjoyable experience to explore the Tunnel Vision exhibition.” – Paul Angus, CIBSE ANZ Chair.
