CIBSE Certification has launched the Whole Life Carbon Assessors (WLCA) Register to recognise competency in assessment of carbon and reducing whole-life carbon in buildings.

This new register is unique offering professional credibility, technical support, and industry recognition and building on CIBSE’s WLCA Training Programme.

CIBSE Certification, a wholly owned subsidiary of CIBSE, has launched the Whole Life Carbon Assessors (WLCA) Register, providing a central hub for professionals verified in whole-life carbon assessment. The initiative builds on established WLCA Training Programmes, which equip participants with the skills and knowledge to assess and reduce whole-life carbon in buildings.

Once participants pass the assessment based on RICS WLCA Standard 2nd Edition methodology, they may apply to CIBSE Certification to be included in the WLCA Register.
Being listed on the register demonstrates certified competence, enhances credibility, and connects professionals with the growing market demand for low-carbon expertise.
The register also offers numerous benefits, including access to technical support and industry experts, marketing toolkits and listing on CIBSE’s website.

This  unique register represents a key step in supporting professionals leading the transition to low-carbon buildings. It provides assurance to clients, employers, and the industry that assessors meet rigorous standards, while giving individuals recognition and access to resources to further develop their expertise.” said Kieran O’Brien, Director of CIBSE Certification.

The WLCA Register is relevant for a wide range of professionals, including developers, surveyors, contractors and consultants, helping them respond to the increasing demand for sustainable building solutions.
