The CIBSE Decarbonisation Conference 2026 brought together leaders, experts and practitioners from across the built environment to explore the technologies, policies and collaborative actions needed to accelerate the UK’s transition to net zero.

Held at the Knowledge Centre at the British Library in London, the conference welcomed more than 150 built environment professionals for a day full of insight, discussion and knowledge sharing focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing the sector.
Through a dynamic programme of presentations and panel discussions, delegates examined the practical steps needed to decarbonise buildings, improve performance and drive meaningful change across the industry. Sessions focused on five key themes:
- Heating – Pathways to low carbon heat
- Cooling – Efficiency, innovation and climate resilience
- Retrofit & whole life carbon – Making existing buildings fit for the future
- Performance & compliance – Closing the gap
- Policy & leadership – Driving systemic change

The conference highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration, innovation and strong leadership in delivering a more sustainable built environment. Speakers and attendees shared valuable insights on overcoming barriers, scaling solutions and ensuring the sector is equipped to meet future demands.
As the industry continues its journey towards net zero, events such as the CIBSE Decarbonisation Conference play a vital role in bringing professionals together to exchange ideas, challenge thinking and inspire action.
