CIBSE Journal Live will return in 2026 with a dedicated focus on one of the fastest-growing and most critical areas of modern building engineering: data centres.

Taking place online on 9 July, and supported by headline sponsor Tate, this year’s event is titled Engineering resilient data centre infrastructure. The programme will bring together leading industry experts to explore the rapid rise of data centres and their growing importance within the future of building services engineering.

As digital demand continues to accelerate, data centres are becoming increasingly central to global infrastructure, driving innovation in energy efficiency, cooling strategies, and sustainable design. The event will provide attendees with practical insight into the challenges and opportunities shaping the sector.

A series of CPD-accredited sessions will examine key technical themes, including power systems, heat recovery, advanced cooling approaches, and the role of digital tools in performance optimisation.

Programme highlights include

  • Data centres – challenges and priorities for the industry and power systems
Speaker: Austin Williamson, Technical Director, Foreman Roberts, and Chair of the CIBSE Data Centre Group
  • TM65 for data centres
Speaker: Mohammad Royapoor, Head of R&D, Red Engineering
  • Liquid cooling
Speaker: Seddik Daoud, Associate Director, FoundDigital DS
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Speaker: Nzube Igwume, Associate Director – Building Physics, Sustainability and Applied R&D, Deerns
  • Heat recovery
Speaker: Iain MacDougall, Head of Sustainability, Red Engineering

The sessions will provide delegates with insights into emerging best practice, evolving methodologies, and the role of building engineering professionals in delivering more resilient and efficient data centre infrastructure.

CIBSE Journal Live continues to serve as a key platform for knowledge sharing across the building services community, bringing together industry leaders to explore the most pressing challenges and innovations shaping the built environment.
