On 7 May, CIBSE YEN joined the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Mechanical Engineering Society (Mech Soc) for an engaging networking event connecting students with industry professionals.
The session gave CIBSE an opportunity to provide students with valuable insights into career pathways, internships and helpful resources for building services engineering.
“This was another top event by UTS Mech Soc, this time in a more relaxed, informal atmosphere which provided students and us the opportunity to chat on college-to-careers and hopefully cement their future in building services. Looking forward to the next one already” - John Smyth, CIBSE YEN ANZ University Outreach Officer.
YEN members shared their experiences, discussed graduate opportunities, and highlighted the important role building services engineers play in creating sustainable and energy-efficient buildings. Many attendees gained new awareness of the diverse opportunities within the sector, including HVAC, energy modelling, and smart building design.
The event also introduced students to CIBSE YEN’s networking, mentoring, and professional development initiatives, encouraging early involvement in the industry.
Overall, the event strengthened links between academia and industry, supporting CIBSE YEN’s mission to inspire and develop the next generation of engineers.
CIBSE would like to thank John Smyth and Ashu Ranjit for representing CIBSE at this UTS event.
