Reinstating Your Membership

Are your details up to date?

Before contacting us to reinstate your membership, you must ensure that your details are up to date.

Members without valid contact details (address, phone and email) will have their subscriptions lapsed. Please see below for guidance on how you can reinstate your membership.

Student, Graduate or Affiliate reinstatements

If you are still studying, please submit your current course details and proof of enrolment here. We will contact you to confirm your membership has been reinstated or if further information is required. If you are no longer studying, you can find a suitable grade of membership to apply for.

Please contact us on 020 8772 3650 or at [email protected] to reinstate your membership. A reinstatement fee in addition to the current annual subscription fee will be payable. If you joined as a Graduate more than 10 years ago, you will be reinstated as an Affiliate member.

Licentiate, Associate, Member or Fellow reinstatements

The process for reinstating your membership and registration depends on when your last renewal payment date was.

Contact us to pay the reinstatement fee, current annual subscription fee and any Engineering Council back fees.

You are required to provide 12 months of CPD records which will be reviewed by our CPD panel. Once your CPD has approved, you will be contacted for payment of the reinstatement fee and the current annual subscription fee. If you held Engineering Council registration, this cannot be reinstated if lapsed over 3 years. You will need to reapply for your registration and be assessed through a Professional Review.

You will need to reapply for your membership (and registration, if held). Your competence will need to be assessed through a Professional Review which includes a new application for membership and attendance of an interview.
