Book NowCIBSE Young Engineers Network (YEN) is organising a scenic group social walk in the beautiful Peak District.
This walk is designed to be accessible, enjoyable, and moderately challenging, with an optional climb to Win Hill.
Estimated duration: 3 hr 45 min to 4 hr 30 min, depending on pace and optional route taken.
🗺️ Route Highlights:
- Bamford Edge – panoramic views, photo opportunities, snack break
- Descent to the reservoir (lunch break)
- Thornhill Trail
- Optional Win Hill climb, depending on group energy
- Return to The Anglers Rest pub for a post-walk drink kindly sponsored by Matt from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
What to Bring:
- Plenty of water.
- Snacks or packed lunch
- Sturdy boots or trail shoes – expect muddy or uneven paths.
- Rainproof clothing and an extra layer, even if the forecast looks good.
Additional Notes:
- The walk starts with a steep climb up Bamford Edge. We’ll take it slow and regroup as needed – there are benches on the way up.
- A few gates between fields may be tricky for large dogs, but manageable.
- Dogs must be kept on a lead due to livestock in some areas.
- If there are any rail strikes or cancellations, we’ll inform everyone and aim to reschedule.
- In the event of severe weather forecast, the walk may be cancelled for safety reasons.
