CIBSE YEN London - STEM from the City

CIBSE YEN London at Guildhall - 28th June 2014

The 28th June 2014, saw an event the first of its kind in London, The STEM from the City event was held at the Guildhall in the City of London and had representation from all types of industries including Drama, Banking and Construction. CIBSE were asked by the Science Council for some representation for the event and CIBSE YEN London was happy to oblige. 

The attendees of the event consisted of various inner city schools, with the students ranging from the ages of 14-15.
The aim of the event was to demonstrate to the youth of today, the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in their future careers, The Guildhall was packed with various exhibitions from all sorts of industries, other events throughout the day included a Balloon Debate, and various Speed Networking Sessions.

The CIBSE YEN London representation was led by Charlotte Mercer (AECOM), and she was assisted by Alex Logan (WSP), Ruth Howlett (AECOM), Tom Pilkington (AECOM)  and Jason Smith (FHP ESS).

The CIBSE stand was very well attended throughout the day, and the main focus of the students’ interests was the model of the Zero Carbon Laboratory facility, which was provided by Charlotte Mercer.
