Speaker Bio:

Hywel Davies OBE is an independent expert in building safety regulation and building performance with over 40 years of experience in construction product research, standards, testing, certification and regulation. He served as Technical Director of CIBSE from 2007 to 2024 and is widely recognised as one of the UK's leading voices on building safety reform.

His current roles include Deputy Chair of the Building Advisory Committee of the Building Safety Regulator, Co-Chair of the industry Sector Led Group on competence frameworks, and Chair of the BSI Strategic Committee for Construction and the Built Environment. In 2026, he was awarded an OBE for services to building safety and standards.
