CIBSE Technical Director, Dr Hywel Davies, has given evidence to the Scottish Parliament at the COVID-19 Recovery Comittee.
Dr Davies was joined by Dr Shaun Fitzgerald OBE FREng FCIBSE, Director at the Centre for Climate Repair at University of Cambridge, Professor Catherine Noakes OBE FREng, Professor of Environmental Engineering for Buildings, University of Leeds, and Professor Tim Sharpe, Head of Architecture, University of Strathclyde.
Providing evidence, they stressed the importance of continued ventilation to reduce the risk of transmission, whilst emphasising that with the approach of colder winter weather, windows could be open periodically to manage air circulation, without causing discomfort to occupants.
They also stressed the importance of routine maintenance of building ventilation and underlined the importance of new and refurbished buildings meeting the regulatory standards for ventilation.
A video recording of the session is available on the Scottish Parliament's website, and a full written transcript is available here.
