Another great CIBSE WA Chapter Christmas luncheon was held in the beautiful surroundings of Matilda Bay Restaurant, Crawley on Friday 7 December.

Over 80 members and guests enjoyed a great meal and the odd drink whilst listening to Juan Carlos (JC) Guzman, Head of Software and Computing Group at CSIRO Astronomy and Space. JC spoke about the history of the global Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project, what its objectives are and the technology that it uses including some challenging concepts involving gigaflops, teraflops, petaflops and beyond...!

Also in attendance were UK-based John McLean, a Trustee of the CIBSE Benevolent Fund, Mike Garton aka The Father of CIBSE WA without whose energy and dedication over the years the chapter would be a mere shadow of what it is today, and Paul Jackson, the AIRAH WA President.

Our thanks go to our sponsors, without whose assistance these events cannot be run, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Systemaire, Alerton, Melchor and HI Lighting.

Finally thank you to the CIBSE local committee for their invaluable assistance in arranging not only this event but the program of technical events in 2018.
