2022 review of CIBSE Climate Action Plan highlights the ongoing impact of building services engineers in delivering net zero

CIBSE has long been active on the topic of climate change mitigation and adaptation, linking it to building performance. To increase our efforts, in July 2019 CIBSE produced its first Climate Action Plan, mapping our current and planned activities in the areas where we have a duty and the ability to act as a professional institution. CIBSE committed to reviewing the plan regularly, and this Summer 2022 version is the third annual update.

Consultations on implementing the new building control regime for higher-risk buildings and wider changes to the building regulations for all buildings

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities have launched two new consultations as part of a series of consultations on regulations which provide technical proposals that support the law as set out in the Building Safety Act 2022. They provide further detail on how it will operate and be enforced.

2022 Ken Dale Bursary awarded to project improving access to lighting in rural communities in Southern Africa

Aluwaine Manyonga has been awarded this year’s bursary for his project, Assessing the impact of using off grid solar powered DC LED lighting systems on improving reliability and access to lighting in Southern Africa’s rural buildings (case study of schools and residential buildings).
