SLL publish visual aid to emergency lighting and signage

The Society of Light and Lighting is pleased to announce the publication of Lighting Factfile 16: Visual Guide to Emergency Lighting and Signage.
This guide provides a simple checklist of key points and is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to legislative requirements or standards. For a comprehensive guide to the design, testing and monitoring of emergency lighting and signage systems, please refer to SLL LG12: Emergency lighting (2015).
SLL Lighting Factile 16 is part of a series of free to access online publications, written by Members of the Society of Light and Lighting. They include key information relating to several lighting topics, often aimed as an introduction or summary of essential points for those working in related disciplines.

SLL Factfile 16 considers key steps in the design process, positioning of spotlights to avoid dazzling escapees, lighting for stairs, visibility of signage and responsibilities for occupant safety beyond the final exit point.
This document was authored by Paul Ruffles BSc CEng Hon-FSLL FCIBSE, a member of the Society’s Technical & Publications Committee. The Committee are responsible for reviewing and updating existing Lighting Guides and Factfiles, as well as identifying areas where new guidance may be required.
