Held at the London Art House in Islington, the Society welcomed guests to an evening of learning and creativity. The night began with a talk from Michael Bosanko who displayed examples of his work, taking guests through the process and inspiration behind them. Following this, Michael gave live demonstrations of his work, before handing over to the audience.

Michael discovered light painting by accident whilst on holiday in Greece. After accidentally knocking his tripod, he captured a trail of light from the moon which inspired him to experiment with writing in light. On his return home, he adopted the same technique using torches and has used them as his primary medium since.

In 2016, Michael featured on the BBC’s Countryfile creating a light painting in the Brecon Beacons National Park, recognised as an International Dark sky reserve in 2012. Michael has also been working on a special commission for Disney, in celebration of the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse, with his piece to be exhibited in London later this year.

With Michael’s guidance attendees split off into groups to create and capture their own light paintings.
