Mat Klintfalt, who continues to be pivotal in his role as Honorary Treasurer shared the key directives, helping move the region into the future, plus Sharon Pestonji also provided a summary of the key iniatives she has been working on over the previous 12 months.

Paul went on to present Certificates of Commendation to outstanding CIBSE volunteers, including the following:

Peter Whalley - Who has been involved in the Western Australia Chapter committee, since 2006. Over the last 12 years Peter has held positions of Vice Chair 2013 to 2015. Peter was elected to WA Chapter Chair in 2015, with his tenure as WA Chapter Chair coming to fruition in July 2018. Peter has always strived to make CIBSE more social and relevant in the local market, which has been difficult due to the smaller membership group in WA. The local committee has worked very hard to develop the annual Christmas function, which over the years has developed into a well-attended and recognised social event in Perth, publicising the work of CIBSE in the local market, whilst being high on the social calendar in the WA building services fraternity. The chapter enjoys great success from this event which has seen a recent donation of $10,000 to the CIBSE benevolent fund from income generated at this event over the last 3 years. The local chapter committee is engaged and active, which highlights the passion and enthusiasm of Peter and his committee.

Ian Small – Immediate Past ANZ Chair who has now stepped down from the committee, although will remain active for the South Australia Chapter.  Ian’s contribution, both for the region and local level for the South Austrlia Chapter is inspiring.  Click on the image below to follow Ian’s contribution over the years.

Certificates of Commendation were also presented to Ian Van Eerden, Peter Cottrell, who were unfortunatley unable to attend the AGM.
Ian Van Eerden has been instrumental to the development of the Young Engineers Network in the ANZ region, where he has held the post of Young Engineer Chair from 2015 – 2018, recently stepping down earlier this year.
Ian has assisted in creating the YEN network within each of our Chapters, which is now blossoming, thanks to his dedication and efforts.
Stand outs for Ian in his post include:

  • Attending the YEN Global Conferences in Hong Kong (2015) and Edinburgh (2016);

  • Having the opportunity to present at the CIBSE Technical Symposium on the NABERS program and the effects of Compulsory Building Disclosure.

  • Launching the Adelaide YEN with a tour of the new Waymouth Student Accommodation building from BlueSky;

  • Instrumental in the recent Student Drive, presenting to various Universities explaining the benefits of joining CIBSE for career advancement

He will be advancing and continuing to portray his knowledge and skills, by becoming a valuable asset to the New South Wales Chapter Committee.
Peter Cottrell has been, and remains, a very active and core member of the CIBSE Victoria Chapter Committee since 2003, currently serving as Victorian Chapter Treasurer.
Peter has also served as the Victorian Chapter Chair and has been part of the CIBSE ANZ Regional Committee from 2008 to 2011. Peter has been instrumental in raising sponsorship for both Chapter and Regional Events, which has further assisted in raising the CIBSE profile both locally and regionally.
