Legionella Responsible Person This course provides instruction as to the nature of Legionnaires' disease, its history and background and the current legislative requirements. It also covers procedures for the management and control of Legionella bacteria in hot and cold water systems, as well as cooling towers in accordance with the ACoP and guidance documents on legionellosis. The course goes on to describe the role and responsibilities of the Responsible Person stressing the need for competency in the management process. Training purpose: To provide candidates with an understanding of the nature of the disease, current technical and legal requirements for the control of Legionella in hot and cold water systems, including cooling towers (if applicable to trainees) and the responsibilities of those involved in system management. Who would benefit? Individuals, whose responsibilities include the management of building services, including water systems, who require an understanding of the responsibilities of Legionella management.


Legionella General Awareness Training Course This course provides a basic introduction to Legionella Management and control. It covers the legal and technical requirements in ensuring water systems are effectively managed against Legionellosis. Training Purpose: To provide candidates with the knowledge of current legal and technical requirements for the control of Legionella in hot and cold water systems and the skills necessary to carry out effective management and maintenance of systems in accordance with current guidance and legislation. Who would benefit? The course will benefit anyone who is involved in the management and control of water systems.


Legionella Usage Evaluation and Flushing Training Course A successful usage evaluation and flushing programme can be one of the hardest control measures to implement and manage successfully, especially at large multi-building sites such as hospitals and universities. Its success relies on the end user understanding what they have to do and why they have to do it. Our Usage Evaluation and Flushing training course is a short but detailed introduction to Legionellosis and the importance of usage evaluation and flushing. Training purpose: The aim is to provide the end user and those responsible for flushing an appreciation of Legionellosis Management and control and the importance of their roles and responsibilities. Who would benefit? Water services end users and their managers.


SOCOTEC's Water Treatment and Closed System Course Closed circuit water treatment & protection. The course focuses on the main issues affecting closed circuits and how to effectively manage and ensure their efficient operation by filtration and automated chemical treatment. Who would benefit? This course is based around the requirements of building services engineers and will span all competencies including graduate, maintenance staff, managers and field specialists. The courses is targeted at those who have design responsibility or are involved in the installation, operation and maintenance of this type of equipment and water system.


Asbestos The asbestos awareness course covers the basics as described in the Approved Code of Practice for CAR2012. The short asbestos awareness courses lasts about 45 minutes making it suitable for a breakfast or lunch training situation. SOCOTEC also provide a 45 minute course on asbestos in soils. Training purpose: Courses aim to provide workers with the skills to understand and avoid the risks and managers on how to comply with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Who would benefit?

SOCOTEC's asbestos courses are aimed at building managers, architects and engineers that need to understand the regulations and the asbestos risk for their management and design capabilities. Also electrical engineers and facilities management staff that work on the fabric of the building need to understand the implications to their daily workload.
