Project of the Year - Data Centre

This new award category recognises the new build or refurbishment of a Data Centre that most effectively demonstrates high levels of user satisfaction and comfort whilst delivers outstanding measured building performance, energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. 

Who should enter?

Building services engineers, architects, building occupiers, clients, contractors, consultants, land/estate owners, mechanical and electrical engineers, property owners, project managers, quantity surveyors.


Entries should be for Data Centres projects located in the United Kingdom and completed during the period 1 June 2014 - 31 August 2016. Projects based outside the UK should be entered for International Project of the Year. Entries may be submitted by any or all members (together) of the project team and should be accompanied by a full year of operational data.

Judging Criteria

The Judges will be looking for entries with clear objectives and outcomes, and which show successful delivery of a newly built or refurbished Data Centre. The Data Centre should also deliver outstanding measured building performance, energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions.

Your submission for this award should include evidence of:

 Synopsis of the project and its building performance objectives, focusing on environmental performance.
 Any special challenges, objectives or constraints including reliability and the design solutions adopted.
 Specific elements of excellence and innovation in terms of design, equipment or application.
 One year's evidence of measured building performance and energy use data. 
 Any sustainability aspects of the project, including energy efficiency and embodied environmental impacts across the lifecycle. 
 Evidence of costs and expected savings associated with these measures and anticipated payback periods.
 Description of commissioning, handover and soft landings processes, and how they contributed to achieving the designer's intended building performance.
 Evidence of collaboration between members of the project team that has contributed to improved building performance.
 Evidence of user feedback on the building and satisfcation with the measures adopted.
